In 1867, Potterrow United Presbyterian Church moved to an elegant new church on the corner of Hope Park Terrace where its tower was a prominent landmark. The building cost £6700 and seated just over 1000 people.
Hope Park Church of Scotland united with Newington South in 1940. Sadly, the Hope Park Church building was demolished in 1949 although one stone pier can still be seen on Hope Park Terrace.
